Saskatoon Karate Club
The YMCA of Saskatoon works with local groups like the Saskatoon Karate Club to offer more programs at our downtown location. Each club runs its own classes. To join, you need a YMCA membership. Some clubs, like the Saskatoon Karate Club, may also have extra fees.
Saskatoon Living Skies Wado Kai Karate
We accept New Beginners in September and January ONLY, at the start of the session. Students with previous Karate experience may join at any time.
The Saskatoon Karate Club is part of the Shintani Wado Kai Karate Federation. This group teaches traditional karate with kindness and respect, just like its founder, Hanshi Shintani.
Everyone is welcome to join. There is an extra yearly club fee, which you can pay during class.

6:00 pm – 7:00 pm Warriors (studio)
6:45 pm – 8:15 pm Family/General (Gym)
8:15 pm – 9:30 pm Adult/Advanced (Gym)
At the Saskatoon Karate Club, this class teaches Shintani Wado-Kai Karate in a fun and safe way. You will learn simple self-defence moves, how to be more aware of your body, and beginner sports skills. It also helps build confidence.
The class is split into two groups:
Beginners (ages 13+) learn basic moves and fitness.
Advanced students practice harder karate skills, self-defence, and new techniques using a short staff (Shindo).

Little Warriors
Little Warriors is a fun karate class for young kids. It runs at the same time as the family class, and all students start and finish together in the main gym. This class helps younger kids learn basic karate moves in a playful way, perfect for those not quite ready for the full family class.
If a student is ready for the family class, they may be invited to join later.
