January 31, 2024 – YMCA of Saskatoon CEO DeeAnn Mercier has been warmly welcomed as our new leader. The CEO Selection Committee and Board of Directors are happy to announce her appointment.
DeeAnn has many years of experience in helping people and leading non-profit groups. She is skilled in fundraising, creating programs, and working with the public. She truly cares about people and communities. Her knowledge and strong community ties make her a great fit to lead the YMCA of Saskatoon.
DeeAnn knows Saskatoon well. She recently worked as the Executive Director at the Broadway Business Improvement District (BBID), where she helped connect the community, culture, and businesses. Before that, she was the Communications Director at The Lighthouse Supported Living Inc., where she led successful fundraising campaigns.
Board Chair Mike McKague said, “I am thrilled that DeeAnn is our new YMCA of Saskatoon CEO. Over the years, our YMCA’s work in the community has grown. DeeAnn’s energy, experience, and love for the community will help us grow even more and reach more families in Saskatoon.”
DeeAnn shared her excitement: “Being chosen as the YMCA of Saskatoon CEO is a big chance to build a stronger community and make a positive change. As a mom, I understand how important it is to have affordable childcare and programs that help families. I’m excited to lead the YMCA team and help everyone in our community thrive.”
DeeAnn will start her new role on February 20, 2024. Let’s give her a warm welcome!
The YMCA of Saskatoon is one of the city’s biggest charities. It helps many families every day. It is also Saskatoon’s largest child care provider with six current sites and a new one opening in Aspen Ridge in 2024. The YMCA runs school care programs at 15 elementary schools and also operates the Family Resource Centre in Fairhaven. In 2024, two more Centres will open in Warman/Martensville and East Saskatoon.
The YMCA continues to grow. It now also supports teens with programs in mental health, leadership, and school support. We also run fitness and swimming programs at our downtown location.
The future looks bright for the YMCA of Saskatoon!
