  • Aquafit - An energetic, low impact class that uses the water's resistance to increase muscular strength while maximizing your cardiovascular system.
  • AquaCircuit- A circuit workout in the pool using the resistance of water for a complete cardio and muscle workout.
  • motion- is a physical activity program for older adults (50+) supported throught the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The mission of motion is to improve and/or maintain the health of older adults living in the community through phyical activity and education.
  • Y-Fit Strength - This class will give fast results for strength, endurance and muscle toning by challenging both the muscular and cardiovascular systems with dynamic, total body movements.
  • Y-Fit Circuit - High-intensity cardio, strength, core and flexibility training all in one.
  • Y-Fit Bootcamp - Get a great full body work out over the noon hour, along with cardio components.
  • Y-Fit Kettlebells - Using ballistic and swinging motions, a kettlebell workout will improve cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility. Movements in-corporate multiple muscles simultaneously and are repeated ensuring a full body workout!       *Caution advised for those with back and shoulder problems
  • Y-Cycle & Y-Cycle Express - Cardiovascular interval exercise designed to provide you with the optimum in fat burning and strength building.  Express is a 30-minute class
  • Y-Functional Strength Class - Take advantage of the Functional Fitness area on Thursday evenings to strengthen your core and muscle groups in a fun group workout!
  • SYNRGY360 - Unique class incorporating the SYNRGY360 functional fitness equipment hub, at a medium to high intensity. Participants rotate through the stations of the apparatus. You find this class challenging and anything but boring, as you focus on cardio, strength, endurance, and agility.
  • Y-BARRE - Y-Barre Fitness class is a fitness program inspired by elements of ballet, dance, yoga, pilates and strength training. It focuses on low-impact, high-intensity movements designed to strengthen your body. Barre also focuses on high reps of small range movements. We will use a chair or a wall for a little additional balance support as you move through moves. Barre will improve your balance, build strength, make you more flexible, burn calories, and improve stability through a stronger core.
  • Beginner Yoga - A gentle introduction to yoga, designed as a low-stress learning experience that will get you ready to continue your journey in yoga.
  • Yin Yoga - This class targets the connective tissues, bones and joints of the body and is suitable for almost all levels of participants. A great start to your Tuesday morning!
  • RIP® by Group RX  - Rip is known as the fastest growing barbell program. It is choreographed strength training that gets you results!
  • Y-ABF  (Aqua Board Fitness) - ABF challenges your typical workout routine in a new and unique way to improve balance, posture, and overall strength.
  • Y-ABF Yoga - improves your balance and flexibility.   
  • Y-ABF Conditioning - pushes your body to its maximum fitness limit.   
  • POUND® - Designed for all fitness levels, POUND® provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energized, toning up and rockin' out!  The workout is easily modified!
  • PiYo Live ® - Combines the muscle-sculpting, core strengthening benefits of Pilates®, with the strength and flexibility of Flow Yoga movements.  You'll perform a series of high-intensity, low impact moves for a long, lean and defined physique.
  • Zumba® - Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba routines incorporate interval training — alternating fast and slow rhythms — to help improve cardiovascular fitness. No previous dance experience required. Ditch the workout, Join the Party!
  • Zumba Toning® -  Perfect for those who want to party, but put extra emphasis on toning and sculpting to define those muscles! The use of Zumba Toning Sticks or light weights enhances your sense of rhythm and coordination while toning arms, core and lower body.
  • Zumba Step® - This class combines the awesome toning and strengthening power of Step aerobics, with the fun fitness-party that only Zumba® brings to the dance-floor.

Child Minding

During the Fall Months - No Childminding will be provided

We know it's difficult to find time for yourself when you have the responsibility of taking care of a little one. To help you stay active and healthy, the YMCA provides free Childminding for Members! Childminding is for children 6 months to 12 years old. If you have a child who is less than 6 months and you would like to use the service, please contact Zachary at 306-652-7515 ext. 259. This is a registered service. To reserve your spot, please sign up in the MindBodyApp. Spots are limited in order to promote physical distancing and there is a 1-hour time limit. Upon arrival, we will be doing a screening questionnaire of your child, and dependent on your answers we may refuse service. For more information or if you have any questions, please contact us!

Our program is divided into a number of levels based on age and swimming ability. If you are a new member, please contact our Aquatics Director, Rebecca Newson for a free assessment prior to registering.

Swimming for Adults

The YMCA Active Adult Swim Program is designed for adult learners ages 14+. We are currently offering a Stroke Technique course and private lessons.

Lane and Family Swim Updates: Effective September 7, 2021

Lane Swim will have one person per lane up to a maximum of 6 swimmers.

During Family Swim the maximum number of Lane Swimmers is 4.

Lane Swim will be closed at 4:30 PM on Mondays and Fridays & closed at 11:30 AM on Sundays.

Family Swim will have a maximum of 20 people.


Registration is open for our swimming lessons. You can register in person or over the phone. If you are not a member at the YMCA please note that we do require payment upon registration for the lesson.

Our experienced YMCA personal trainers can guide you, and provide you with sound knowledge, technique, and program feedback to help you achieve your training goals.

Personal training sessions can cover:

Peggy Anderson
Peggy has been involved in sports and activities from a young age; from dance to softball to synchronized swimming, as both an athlete and a coach. Shebegan volunteering as a fitness instructor at the Y in early 2015 and taught boot camp, strength and conditioning, synergy and cycle classes. Shewas certified as a Spin instructor in the early months of 2019. In 2018 Shewas certified as a personal trainer at the Y. Her main interest is functional fitness and my goal is to support and encourage people of all ages to live a healthy, active lifestyle.

Rob Friedt
Rob specializes in functional training using kettlebells, TRX, ropes, etc. He’s here to encourage, motivate, and guide you through your personal health and fitness journey... whether that’s increasing strength and muscle, improving your sport, losing weight, or just feeling and moving better. With years of experience in both individual and group training, Rob is certified through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and CanFitPro, and is a YMCA certified Group Fitness Leader.
Program Design Package

This package is perfect if you are seeking a new routine, need assistance with exercise choices, technique and programming. The Program Design option is ideal for those who are looking for guidance but prefer to train independently. This can be done in person or via virtual training.

Personal Training

This option is excellent for all ages and fitness levels, and provides a fun and exciting atmosphere, designed to teach you proper technique, exercise programming, and supply extra coaching and motivation. Whether you choose one-on-one, or group training, we have flexible package options to suit your needs.

Children & Youth Programs

Programs noted with * have additional cost. 

  • Anything Goes Crafts -  Explore and discover your artistic self! This class offers a variety of crafts to enjoy. No previous experience is required, simply a desire to learn, socialize and have fun. Give free rein to your artistic creativity while enjoying a visit with other great kids! We will explore all sorts of crafts and encourage self-expression.
  • Doodle -  An art class where students will learn new drawing skills and have the opportunity to express themselves through visual art. Showcase your creativity and learn new skills each week. Materials for the course are provided!
  • *Baby Sitter’s Club - Babysitting course covers everything from managing difficult behaviours to essential content on leadership and professional conduct as a babysitter. Babysitting promises to deepen and enhance the responsibility that older youth feel when caring for younger children.
  • Homework Club -  Does your child need some extra time to complete their homework? This program is for them! Our Homework Club Leaders are either teachers or are in school to become one, so they can assist your child with their math, science, spelling, and any other classes! This is a Drop in program, and space is limited.
  • Hero Training -  Hero Training is a program designed to encourage healthy habits and build a sense of community through fun, physical activities for youth. Each week your instructor will walk you through some entertaining workouts and games. Meet new friends and stay healthy with Hero Training!
  • *Leader Programs/LIT 8-10 years -  The Leaders in Training (LIT) Program is designed to teach introductory leadership skills by focusing on effective teamwork and group building. LIT program also focuses on healthy lifestyles, building positive relationships and encourages to be active leaders in our community.
  • *Leader Programs/JR Leaders 11-13 years-  The Junior Leaders Program is designed to provide participants opportunity to become more autonomous decision makers in our community. In addition to team building and group activities, our Junior Leaders focus on community engagements, such as supporting special events held at the YMCA of Saskatoon. Our Junior Leaders will have the opportunity to work closely with the Leader Corp participants, whom will act as mentors for the youths.
  • *Leader Programs/Leader Corp 14-17 years-  The Leaders Corp program enhances youth leadership skills through community involvement, active team engagement, mentorship opportunities and group activities. Our Leaders Corp participants will play an active role in community events, campaigns and fundraisers. Participants will gain hands on work experience by running children and family events at the YMCA. Our participants also have an opportunity to attend and participate at the Annual Leadership Conference.
  • YMCA Community Action Network -  YCAN is one of Canada’s national youth service initiatives and aims to give individuals 15 to 30 years of age , at no cost to themselves, a chance to get involved in their local community through service project opportunities. Judo Adult Recreational

Times and dates to be announced

Designed for ages 15 and older and is for all levels of Judo from beginner to advance. Focus is on technique and learning fundamentals, but provides a good opportunity for improving technique.

Additional Sask Judo fee applies to all Judo registrations.

Judo Hi-Performance

Monday, Wednesday and Fridays: 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

This class is designed for those judo athletes who wish to compete in the sport. It is an intense class that focuses on conditioning, techniques and fighting practice.

Additional Sask Judo fee applies to all Judo registrations.

Kinder Judo

Wednesdays: 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

For students who are 4-6 years of age. Please note: parents are required to come onto the mats and assist during the class.

Additional Sask Judo fee applies to all Judo registrations.

Beginner Kids Judo

Tuesdays and Thursdays: 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

For students who are 7 years of age and older. Please note: parents are welcome to come onto the mats and assist during the class.

Additional Sask Judo fee applies to all Judo registrations.

Intermediate Kids Judo

Tuesdays and Thursdays: 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

For students who are 7 years of age and older with Judo experience.

Currently unavailable

A high-intensity combat sport that combines various martial arts techniques in a controlled environment. The focus of this class is fitness and self-defence, not competition! For ages 16 and up.


Wednesdays: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sundays: 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Kendo is traditional Japanese sword-fighting. Kendo players wear light armor and use split bamboo swords to attack targets on the armor. Kendo is practiced full s speed and full contact, but is very safe due to the equipment and rules. Kendo matches are fast-paced battles of skill and mental strength. Students must be at least 12 years old, there is no upper age limit. Saskatoon Kendo Club is a member of the Canadian Kendo Federation, which is the sole governing body of Kendo in Canada under the International Kendo Federation. Kendo accepts new beginners in September and January. Returning members, or people with previous Kendo experience from other clubs, may join at any time throughout the year.) Additional Club Fees are required.

Wado Kai Karate

Family class (Beginner to Intermediate ages 8 years and older) Tuesdays and Thursdays: 7:00-8:00pm

Advanced (Aged 13 and older or belt rank of Orange and higher) Thursday: 8:00-9:30pm

Wado Kai is a traditional karate style incorporating punches, kicks, and blocks used to protect yourself from attackers. Our classes include activities such as perfecting basic techniques, working on Katas (combinations of techniques which are designed to be an imaginary fight), working with partners in either 2-step or freestyle Kumite (fighting) and many other drills and activities to hone the students’ skills. We run an exciting class which is structured for students 6 and up (parents are encouraged!) which is set up to receive new students who have no previous Martial Arts experience.

Squash 306 Beginners

Tuesdays: 5:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

For young players age 7-12, wanting to progress in the sport of squash. Additional Fees of $10 are required for annual Sask. Squash membership.

Squash 306 Junior

Tuesdays 6:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

For experienced young players up to the age of 21, participants must be committed to progress in the sport of squash. Group training is twice weekly with a combination of on court drills and off court strength and fitness training. Additional Fees of $10 are required for annual Sask Squash membership

Squash Adult Beginner

Mondays 5:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Learn how to play the sport and the basic squash tactics. For ages 18 and up. Additional Fees of $10 are required for annual Sask Squash membership

Squash League

Wednesdays 5:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.

A great way to meet new opponents. For ages 18 and up.

First Aid

Standard First Aid and CPR-C with AED Full Course

Septmeber 18 & 19 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and November 27 & 28 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Lifesaving Society Standard First Aid is the most comprehensive first aid program for the general public and a prerequisite for National Lifeguard. Learn how to assess and treat airway, breathing, and circulatory emergencies; and management of medical, musculoskeletal and environmental emergencies. Certification includes CPR-C/AED. Ages 13+

Standard First Aid and CPR-C with AED Recertification
