Grand Opening of the Saskatoon Family Resource Center – East
On May 11, 2024, the Saskatoon Early Years Family Resource Centre – East had its Grand Opening at 142-163 Gibson Bend, inside the Brighton Marketplace Square. This new Saskatoon family resource center is a big step for the community.
Dhuha Al-Juboori, Director of Saskatoon Early Years Family Resource Centres, shared her excitement: “We are very happy and thankful to open another centre in Saskatoon. This will help us reach more caregivers and children in many parts of the city. I am sure our team will do just as well as we have at our West Centre.”
About the Saskatoon Family Resource Center and Its Services
The Saskatoon Early Years Family Resource Centre is a safe and fun place for young children—from before birth up to age five—and their families to play and learn together. This Saskatoon family resource center offers free programs and drop-in playtimes. Families can also attend events and meet experts like nurses and therapists.
DeeAnn Mercier, CEO of the YMCA Saskatoon, said, “Raising children can be hard. The centre is a welcoming place where families can get help and connect with professionals. As Saskatoon’s biggest child care provider, it makes sense for us to run these family resource centers. We thank the Saskatchewan Health Region and the Ministry of Education for their support.”
The Saskatoon Early Years Family Resource Centre is a non-profit run by the YMCA of Saskatoon. The Saskatchewan Health Authority and the Ministry of Education, Early Years Branch fund it. Since August 2020, the West Centre at 309 Fairmont Drive has welcomed over 27,000 families. The Martensville-Warman Early Years Family Resource Centre is also run by the YMCA and will soon move to a permanent space after working in parks this summer.
