Program Details

  • Start Date: TBD

Two Programs. Double the Fun.

Fit for Kids and First Tee run on opposite weekends, making it easy to sign your child up for both programs — or choose the one that’s right for them.

Sign up for one or make it a full-season experience!

The program is designed to introduce children to basic movement principles while helping them build confidence and develop foundational physical skills that can be applied to a variety of sports and activities.
Each lesson will focus on fundamental skills such as throwing, jumping, landing, catching, spinning, dribbling, and many others. These skills will be incorporated into fun, age-appropriate activities and movement challenges, followed by group games that allow children to practice and apply their new skills in a sport-related setting.
Overall, the goal of the program is to get youth excited and engaged in physical activity while developing their physical literacy, movement skills, and confidence. By creating a fun and supportive environment, children will build a strong foundation that encourages them to stay active and participate in sports and physical activity for years to come.

Judo Drop-ins – You don’t need a YMCA membership to try Judo, but you will have to pay a drop-in fee if you’re not a member. Every person who joins must also pay a club fee set by Judo Saskatchewan—you’ll get this info at the start of the session.

For out of town judo players who don’t have a YMCA membership and are in good standing with Judo Sask, a drop-in fee will be required to participate in the class.
Anybody who is planning on joining a class will be required to pay a club fee. Details will be given to participants on their first day.

Kendo is a Japanese martial art that looks like sword fighting. People in Kendo wear light armor and use bamboo swords to hit safe target areas. It is a fast and full-speed activity, but it is very safe because of the gear and rules.

The Saskatoon Martial Arts Club includes the Saskatoon Kendo Club, which is part of the Canadian Kendo Federation. This group follows national and international Kendo rules and helps people of all levels learn and enjoy this exciting sport.

The Saskatoon Karate Club is part of the Shintani Wado Kai Karate Federation. This group teaches traditional karate with kindness and respect, just like its founder, Hanshi Shintani.

Everyone is welcome to join. There is an extra yearly club fee, which you can pay during class.

The Saskatoon Seals Underwater Hockey (UWH) Club is a safe, non-contact sport played between two teams at the bottom of a pool. Players maneuver a weighted puck along the bottom of the pool into the opposing team’s goal using 12-inch sticks shaped like car window ice-scrapers. Players hold their breath and dive to the bottom of the pool to push, pass or steal the puck from opponents.

UWH is an exhilarating sport that gives you an incredible cardio workout and will leave you literally breathless at times! We have had players from 8 years old to 75 years old and of all shapes and sizes. We welcome all potential players of any ability or skill level, players use a mask, fins & snorkel and we teach you how to use them.

The YMCA Squash League is open to all YMCA members who are 12 years old or older. It gives everyone a chance to play squash regularly and have fun with others in the community.

You don’t need to be an expert—all skill levels are welcome! Whether you are just starting or have played for years, you’ll enjoy friendly matches, learn new skills, and make new friends while staying active.
