Financial Assistance Fund
Potential starts – or ends – with the ability to participate.
If people can’t participate, they can’t feel safe, valued, and connected. They don’t have access to moments that lift them up, help them find confidence, and reconnect them with the things and the people they love.
When people can participate, they have the chance to shine. They learn, grow, and feel empowered.
But today, not everyone in our community has access to the positive, life changing moments that happen at our YMCA.
That’s what the YMCA’s financial assistance program is all about – an opportunity for you to make an impact by removing the barriers that prevent people from participating.
Did you know that one in four of the YMCA participants in our downtown centre, and one in five youths that attend our day camps are financially assisted?
That’s all made possible by community generosity – by people like you.

Whether it’s a child attending their first swimming lesson or a youth making lifelong friends at summer camp, your donation to the YMCA’s financial assistance program will remove barriers and help someone shine in the moments that matter most.
Child and Youth Development Programs Fund
You can help a child splash into swimming lessons with confidence.
You can help a teen feel seen in a youth program that says, “You belong.”
You can help a parent breathe easier, knowing their child is safe and smiling.
This fund helps us maintain current programs and develop new ones that address needs in the community. It is our goal at the YMCA to provide quality programs that are available to all children and youth, and that incorporate our five core values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Caring & Inclusiveness. We also create a sense of belonging by providing free gym time to inner city youth who find themselves outside the school system.
Our Before and After School Care, Day Care, Day Camps, other special initiatives require regular upgrades and improvements to ensure we are meeting the needs of our children. For example, in 2025 our Super Summer Day Camps included a healthy lunch for all participants!
A gift here helps us create a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment for all our programs, and allows us to develop new initiatives and expand our activities when the opportunities arise.
